In this Round Table discussion regarding the exhibition of Max Ernst In the Picasso Room, we want to explore whether a poem springs from the poet's consciousness with the force of the subconscious, like an automatic thought embodied in words. We also want to discuss whether writing poetry is, in some way, a literary form of dreaming, and whether what happens in a poem necessarily has to be true, plausible, or realistic.
