Presentation of the challenge "Rethinking our digital life"

This forum presents the collective challenge of rethinking the role that digital technology plays in our livesAs individuals and as a society, we have embraced digital technologies with great enthusiasm, to the point that they are present in every aspect of our lives: they accompany us in our work, hobbies, and relationships with others. They help us with many tasks, but we have also discovered that some of their characteristics are detrimental: they foster polarization in debates, the manipulation of our behavior (and purchases), and lead to more superficial relationships, to name just three well-known examples. After the initial enthusiasm, it is time to rethink our digital lives to get the most out of these tools without sacrificing our relationships, privacy, and freedom.

For 5 weeks from this presentationWe will work on the topics covered in essay Disconnectionwhich is the source of inspiration for this forum. The challenge is designed to facilitate participation for everyone. The more experiences and thinking minds, the better. The only requirement is being able to dedicate a few minutes a week to reading, thinking, and sharing ideas about the immediate digital future we want. Participation is free and can be done from anywhere in the world. Each week, an email will be sent with information on an important aspect of the influence of digital applications on our lives, which will serve as a starting point for reflection and debate. There will be an online space to exchange opinions and suggestions. to reach joint solutions. The weeks will revolve around:

  1. Presentation: The social impact of networks
  2. Everyday life inREDedaDigital technology in our daily lives
  3. I have networks, therefore I am.The digital world in how we relate to each other now
  4. Filtered reality: biases and algorithms in networks.
  5. Social networks and democracyBetween debate and polarization

And we will close with a final email looking to the future with the conclusions and proposals that have emerged.
