PYBUS GROOVE QUARTET

Led by Canadian saxophonist Dave Pybus, Pybus Groove Quartet It is one of the leading jazz groups in Catalonia. Made up of well-known musicians from diverse backgrounds – Jules Bikoko, Toni Saigi "Chupi" and Caspar St. Charles – this quartet has performed at jazz festivals throughout Spain to large audiences.

Canadian-born saxophonist, Dave Pybus He has been based in Barcelona for three decades. A veteran of local bands such as Orquestra Mirasol, Transatlàntic, Princes of Time o ShamtimeHe has collaborated with international artists such as Stevie Wonder, Thad Jones, Al Cohn, and Jack MacDuff.

Toni Saigi "Chupi" (keyboard) is considered one of the pioneers of music funk in Catalonia and was chosen by his fellow professionals (L'AMJM) as the best Catalan keyboardist in 2000. In addition to having collaborated with groups such as The Pets, has received several awards for his compositions for advertising spots (Cannes, San Sebastián) and for film (Valladolid Festival).

Originally from London, Caspar St. Charles (drums) studied music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Possessing a tremendously versatile style, he has been part of groups such as Traditional Tourist, Groove Unlimited o Shamtime, and has accompanied renowned soloists such as Jackson Browne, Eddie Boy, and Sharon Jones.

Member of the Barcelona band Royal Jaleo, the bass player Tito Bonacera also collaborates with Phat Fred y Damien Band, among others.
