The Gramophone All Stars Big Band
Always championing ska-jazz, The Gramophone All Stars transformed into a big band with their acclaimed album "Jazzmaica" (2014), which was even released in Japan. With their next album, "Maraca Soul" (2017), they broadened their rhythmic repertoire to include other Caribbean sounds such as boogaloo and calypso. Subsequently, they have released three EPs: "The Reel Influence," the single "Let's Get It On" (a cover of Marvin Gaye), and "Love Letter," a tribute EP to The Skatalites, as preludes to their new album, due out in the fall of 2023, which they will present live at Jazz Círculo. The big band, led by saxophonist Genís Bou, includes some of the leading emerging talents from Barcelona's jazz and reggae scenes.
