A panorama of the contemporary Portuguese art scene through the work of seven Portuguese artists whose work escapes the dominant preconceptions.

The Caixa Geral de Depósitos collection is one of Portugal's leading collections of contemporary art. The initial approach for this exhibition was to represent, as far as possible, the acquisitions made since January 2005.

Some of the artists participating in the exhibition – specifically, Noronha da Costa , Ana Jota and Jorge Queiroz – were already represented in the collection.

One of the acquisition criteria encouraged since January 2005 has been precisely to strengthen the presence of certain artists in the collection. However, this exhibition also includes four artists not currently represented in the collection: Francisco Tropa , Luisa Cunha , Ricardo Jacinto , and Bruno Pacheco.

According to the exhibition's curator, Miguel Wandscheneider, the acquisition of works by these and other artists mentioned aims, on the one hand, to align the collection with the most unique and relevant current Portuguese artistic production, and on the other hand, to compensate for the weak representation of some of the most significant Portuguese artists who have emerged since the early 90s.
