Eva Lootz. Knots

The work of Eva Lootz It revolves around the problem of the connections between matter and language. Through videos and sculptures, Lootz explores the duality between naming and showing to bring forth that territory hidden in the shadow of Western rationality; a territory of the left hand and the unconscious in which threads, tangles, fabrics, entanglements, knots, flows, circulations, and blockages have their particular importance.

The exhibition includes a new video, In hands, which Lootz created specifically for this exhibition and which explores the links between the traditional game of stringing cords and the interweavings of Lacanian theory. It also includes two additional audiovisual pieces: It's nothing more than a small hole in my chest. (2004), with a title borrowed from a verse by Henri Michaux, and Blind Spot (2005), a reference to blind spots. Finally, the work Show/Name (2011), linked words made of glass.
