Focusing primarily on his role as a painter, this overview of the work of the French poet and artist Henri michaux (1899-1984) primarily showcases paintings, prints, and drawings, but also books, letters, and manuscripts that demonstrate the close connection between his pictorial and poetic work. Many writers have painted or paint, and many more are painters who write. However, few have managed, like Henri Michaux, to maintain a high level of skill in both creative fields. In his own words: “I paint as I write. To find myself, to rediscover myself, to find my own good that I possessed without knowing it.”

The exhibition includes references to Michaux's early steps as an artist, as well as to the events that decisively influenced his life and creative activity: from the influence of his teachers – Lautreamont, Chirico, Klee, Ernst – to the friendships that would mark his life, passing through his travels and experiences in countries such as Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, or his relationships with intellectuals of the Hispanic world such as González Bernal, Victoria and Angélica Ocampo, Borges, Néstor Ibarra, Luis Fernández and Octavio Paz.

The exhibition takes its title from "one of Michaux's most Baudelairean poems," according to Juan Manuel Bonet, curator of the exhibition. ?Icebergs, Icebergs, cathedrals without religion of eternal winter.
