XI Continued Reading of Don Quixote

Hall of Columns

Time: 18:00 p.m.

The traditional Continued Reading of Don QuixoteThe event, celebrating its eleventh edition in 2007, will take place over forty-eight hours. This uninterrupted reading, whose open nature provides citizens with a lively forum for participation and an opportunity to become true protagonists of culture, will be inaugurated by the most recent recipient of the Cervantes Prize: the poet. Antonio Gamoneda.

The reading will continue with contributions from prominent figures in culture, politics, and entertainment, who will intersperse their remarks with those of a vast number of ordinary citizens who will come to read at different times of the day and night. All of them, through their presence, will bear witness to the profound impact this cultural event has achieved.

Likewise, many others will join the reader network through videoconferences and telephone connections, which will allow contact to be established with more than twenty locations in different countries in Europe, America and Asia.

Finally, we will have the participation of Personas Libro (Fahrenheit Project), as well as performances by RESAD and the Theater Group of the Aranjuez Penitentiary Center.

The reading will include simultaneous interpretation in sign language.
