Shade vaults
Presentation of the poetry collection 'Vaults of Shadow' by Eusebio Lázaro
Eusebio Lázaro presents his poetry collection 'Vaults of Shadow' at this event, which features illustrations by Miquel Barceló, for whom literature and poetry have been part of his inspirations (he illustrated The Divine Comedy, whose watercolors were exhibited at the Louvre Museum, the first living contemporary artist to exhibit at that museum).
Lázaro is the author of several books and plays. He has translated Shakespeare and currently directs the Shakespeare in the Mediterranean collection for the publishing house that is releasing this book of poems. He has acted and directed in film and television. He won the Golden Spike at the Valladolid International Film Festival for his medium-length film, The Clarinet. He has directed several documentaries about major contemporary painters. He is a member of the Spanish Film Academy.
The writers accompany him at this presentation. José Ovejero and Marta Sanz.
< Only the poem assures us that we were there.
(…) naked shadow/ I am becoming of myself, / body of shadow only.
There's not much more to add to such beautifully crafted verses. Because this is a truly exquisite poem based on the contrast between the body and incorporeality. Poems written from that focal point from which almost all poetry should be born: a certain perplexity, chiaroscuro, conflict, desire, the impossibility of... white shadow (What a sight). Let the light be slow. Amen
