This international symposium revolves around the concept of power. It begins with the observation that this ubiquitous, elemental, and magnetic phenomenon manifests itself in ways that are difficult to represent and understand. As both a concept and a reality, power articulates all strata of human existence and, at the same time, possesses something unrepresentable, excessive, and enigmatic. Therefore, this meeting proposes to consider power (a "sociologically amorphous" concept, as Max Weber wrote in a posthumous observation) through its names, spaces, and crises.

The path of names asks: what have been and are the names of power? What is power from a conceptual point of view? Is there a power or powers without a name, unnamed or unnameable? Does naming them contribute to their control and clarification? This panel will explore the relationship between the categories of power and the operations of domination and control.

The field of space raises the following questions: What does it mean to seize space? What are the forms this relationship takes, and who has exercised and continues to exercise it? Is space itself the primary parameter of power? This panel will explore the geopolitical dynamics of power from the 20th century onward, focusing on the appropriation, distribution, and occupation of space in general.

The line of crisis is twofold, and on the one hand, it asks: how are revolution and power related? What are the ways to construct an order in which power, in its oppressive aspect, is weakened, minimized, or eliminated? Are power and freedom perhaps antagonistic? On the other hand, this path of crisis raises, within the framework of the current crisis of male power over women, questions such as: what is the relationship, both negative and positive, of women with power? What is masculine about the most hegemonic conceptions of power, and what conflicts does power generate in the construction of women's identity? Do women, as Almudena Hernando inquires, "desire power"?
