The Round Table (young poetry & other literatures)

> ALT LIT

Most of the poets who have participated in La Mesa Redonda over the years began building a literary community online. It was the internet that brought them together and where their first alternative projects emerged. Over the years, many of these poets have established themselves in the industry and publish regularly within the established literary scene.

The internet, in fact, brought about a neurological, communicative, and rhetorical paradigm shift. As emerging authors, in addition to their position in the world and their process of mastering language, they faced the challenge of confronting a third, predominantly audiovisual plane of reality and negotiating with it in order to translate it into words and integrate it into the whole.

Now that technological oligarchies have turned the internet into an instrument of domestication, numbing and a neo-fascist agenda, we want to reclaim from literature its disruptive and connective potential through its most genuine unit of meaning: the meme.

In season 26/27 we will explore with poets, essayists and storytellers ways to recover the illusion of the phenomenon of mere illusionism that the internet should continue to be, and we will put it into perspective and in relation to the exercise of writing and the literary fact.

Since the meaning of memes is only completed by the interpretation of the receiver, and for each person a meme can have a very specific nuance, this season our conversations between readings are going to be more unpredictable than ever.
