Why does Picasso continue to challenge us 50 years after his death?
On the fiftieth anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death, the debate surrounding him and his work has only intensified. The figure of the genius from Málaga embodies the contradictions of the 20th century: his extraordinary creativity and modernity, and at the same time, the violence of that era. Despite the number of exhibitions and the wealth of information available about the painter, many aspects of his life and artistic production remain unknown. This round table discussion features José Lebrero Stals, director of the Picasso Museum in Málaga; María Dolores Jiménez-Blanco, a leading art historian from the Faculty of Geography and History at the Complutense University of Madrid; and José María Beneyto, author of the book Picasso's betrayals (Turner)Picasso will be placed in the context of the relevance of his work and his contemporary influence.
