Presentation of the book by Juan Cruz, Citizen Polanco. The events of a life, about the businessman who consolidated the most important media conglomerate in the Hispanic world. Mercedes Cabrera and Montserrat Domínguez will participate alongside the author. 

This multifaceted book is, in a way, the territory of memory left behind by Jesús Polanco. In it, Juan Cruz Ruiz sensitively portrays the personal, business, ideological, and familial facets of the businessman who built the most important Spanish-language media conglomerate. He paints a human portrait of an individual hardened by the struggle to navigate life against the current, leading companies whose success sparked envy and resentment. This is the man who was astonished when, in a Madrid courtroom, a judge showed him all the insults that had been hurled at him because of the events in his life.

Based on weekly conversations with him during 2003, and interviews with his collaborators, children and relatives, the author offers a complete mosaic of the life of Jesús Polanco, shedding light on key moments in the history of Spain, which Polanco witnessed when, after Franco's death, an uncertain idea of ​​democracy was emerging.

Juan Cruz Ruiz placeholder image (Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, 1948) holds a degree in Journalism from the University of La Laguna. He has had an extensive career as a journalist at the newspaper El País, where he has worked since its founding in 1976. From 1992 to 1998, he directed the publishing house Alfaguara.
