A profound existential helplessness is spreading and becoming alarmingly entrenched across the globe. Diana Aurenque Stephan attributes this sense of abandonment to the forgetting of our ancestral nature, to a lack of understanding of our ancestral rationality and the ways in which it shapes social organization and political coexistence. 

Based on this diagnosis, Aurenque proposes healthier, less anxious and nervous ways of relating to one another as a community, leading us toward a more supportive and inclusive society. How can we come together when we are so different and distant? How can we envision a broad community that protects without oppressing? 

Based on these questions, the philosopher proposes an original philosophy that considers the political role of ancestors, myth, music and voice, even nihilism, to imagine a new refuge.
