Half a century after its birth, electronic music continues to claim the title of the sound of the future. From the emergence of techno in the industrial heart of Detroit, alongside house music in Chicago's underground clubs, a myriad of genres, experiences, and subcultures have undergone decades of artistic, cultural, and social evolution to enjoy, today, a clearly growing pulse and popularity.

To celebrate the building's centenary, el Círculo de Bellas Artes Through its thematic focus, "The Futures of the Past," Sonido Futuro aims to offer a perspective on history that transcends nostalgia and blind celebration, seeking instead forgone possibilities and unseen trends that might foreshadow a hopeful future. In this vein, Sonido Futuro seeks to conduct a sonic archaeology of electronic music, illuminating the unfulfilled promises and buried potential of the most groundbreaking musical phenomenon of our recent past.

But what is the future of futuristic music? Can it continue to claim the collective, even utopian, character that its producers and fans have emphasized? How has the industry affected a genre that has always strived to be independent and avant-garde? "Future Sound" will be a unique series of events combining theoretical debate with artistic experimentation to map and express the tradition, tensions, and potential of the sound that has already established itself as the vanguard of contemporary popular music.

With Gara Hernandez, musicologist and sound artist focused on experimentation and dissidence; Coco Moya, an artist and musician who works at the intersection of sound, territory, and technology; and Amber Tenorio Fornes, researcher and developer of free software and creative computing. Moderates Ares Bordes Lladós, philosopher and researcher in music, technique and aesthetics.
