This activity is part of the public program associated with the exhibition. Martín Chirino. Memoir ofel Círculo It proposes a guided tour led by Cristina López de Corral, researcher and teacher at the Francisco de Vitoria University, specialist in the figure and aesthetic thought of the Canarian sculptor.

This session will allow visitors to explore the exhibition from a perspective attentive to the links between matter and form, spirit and tool, examining how Chirino understood sculpture as an act of both rootedness and flight. Through his pieces—where iron becomes drawing and the spiral acquires the power of an primal symbol—the visit invites reflection on the tension between the earthly and the ethereal, between the solidity of the metal and the lightness of the creative gesture.

The exhibition traces the key stages of Chirino's career, from his time with the El Paso group to his artistic maturity, highlighting his constant dialogue with tradition, landscape, and primal energies. His work, linked to the plow and the plowshare, as he himself stated, is also a meditation on labor, memory, and the relationship between humankind and matter.

During the visit, the poetic and philosophical references that underpin Chirino's aesthetic will be explored, from Bachelard to notions of material imagination, as well as the spiritual and symbolic resonances that permeate his work. Through a critical and sensitive reading, the activity proposes approaching the sculptures not only as formal objects, but as spaces of intensity, where wind, earth, and the body intertwine in a single vital impulse.

Furthermore, the session will provide insights into the research and documentation process that accompanies the exhibition, as well as an opportunity to reflect on Chirino's relevance as a key figure in the Spanish cultural renewal of the second half of the 20th century, especially for his role in the revitalization ofel Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid and his support for the Atlantic Center of Modern Art.

Featuring: Cristina López de Corral, researcher and lecturer at Francisco de Vitoria University. A graduate in Fine Arts from Complutense University of Madrid and with a Master's degree in Humanities from Francisco de Vitoria University, she is currently writing her doctoral thesis in aesthetics and philosophy of art, focusing on the study of Martín Chirino. Her work combines theoretical reflection with artistic practice, as well as cultural management and dissemination, participating in research and teaching innovation projects dedicated to visual culture, creativity, and critical thinking.
