Arte, ideología y capitalismo

Often, the trope of the spectacularization of contemporary society through the proliferation of communication technologies leads us to forget the density of the rarefied ideological ether that surrounds us. Similarly, at times, economic critiques of inequality in the age of globalization border on sociological spiritualism, insofar as they lack the interlocution of a political subject capable of receiving and embracing the proposed alternative. The essays by Slavoj Žižek , Jorge Alemán, and César Rendueles that comprise this book straddle both extremes. They delve into the symbolic texture of our time, tracing the imagined experience of grand political and economic orderings through mass media. Rather than simply complaining about the aestheticization of public life, they propose an analysis of the mechanisms of ideological construction that structure the relationship of political subjects with their historical reality.

"The proposed topic could not be more interesting and (...) it is definitely worth reading."
(Antonio García Vila, El Viejo Top)
