How a feather grows It is the result of a creative exchange between Marisa Camino y John berger The idea dates back to 1992, but it didn't begin to take shape in drawings until seven years later. These works traveled extensively between the two artists—by car, plane, and mail—and were completed with successive contributions from one or the other. Moderately sized, with a judicious use of color and often bordering on collage, these intimate drawings record an encounter with nature and its traces, while also engaging with quiet human inspirations, such as an abbey cloister or Cro-Magnon paintings. As Berger himself explains in a conversation with another painter, his son Yves: “I think we were searching for a common language, and we finally found a dialogue with drawing. Our drawings remind me of the connection between paper and canvas. Marisa identifies strongly with birds. I mention this because birds weigh very little, they are light, like her. And lightness has something to do with the drawings we make together.” The book includes texts by Alfonso Armada and Chema Gómez de Lora.
