The architecture of a museum or exhibition hall is, in essence, an instrument designed for a specific purpose: to frame narratives about art, or about the objects and actions that constitute the broad field of aesthetic experience or scientific dissemination. All of this must be done while remembering that architecture is a structured discipline grounded in its own principles, consolidated by its very history. Museum management, therefore, requires, among other equally important skills, a thorough understanding of the specific architecture that houses the museum.

The result brings us closer to the reflections and projects of some of the leading architects, curators, and art historians in our country, such as Fernando Checa, Ignacio García Pedrosa, Thomas Llorens, Juan Herreros, Manuel Borja Villel, Enrique Sobejano, Juan Carlos Sancho, Luis Moreno Mansilla y Emilio Tuñón.

Juan Miguel Hernández LeónAn architect, having graduated from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) in 1974 and holding a PhD in Architecture since 1982, he has been Professor of Architectural Composition at the same school since 1987. He is also the founding editor of the journal Passages of Architecture and Criticism (Santiago Amón Award for architectural dissemination) and regularly collaborates in various magazines specializing in architecture, art or thought (International Architect, Lotus, Casabella, Domus, Arquitectura Viva, AV, Arquitectura y Western MagazineHe currently manages Illuminations.
