The CBA publishes a boxed set with the bilingual edition of
Lettres à Betty / Letters to Betty, by the French writer and painter Pierre Klossowski, and Integral, the catalog of the retrospective exhibition of his work plastic arts at the CBA.

Although the literary work of Pierre Klossowski (1905-2001) has been translated into Spanish since the 1970s (sometimes by writers of the stature of the Mexican Juan García Ponce), his visual art remains little known in Spain; often overshadowed by that of his brother Balthus, it has only been partially exhibited. These two volumes seek to remedy this deficiency and do justice to the singular talent of this writer and artist.

The exhibition thus showcases all facets of his work as a novelist, essayist, translator, and illustrator, and, with the collaboration of figures such as Raúl Ruiz and Pierre Zucca, his passion for photography and film. Alongside large-format color works and ink and pencil drawings—some twenty of which belong to the Jacques Doucet Library—the exhibition includes original photographs from the series *The Living Currency*, as well as images of manuscripts, books, and iconographic documents.

The essays by Serge Fauchereau, Eduardo Arroyo, Jacques Henric, Charo Crego, and Fernando Castro Flórez illuminate, from complementary perspectives, the thematic and formal impulses of this work, comprised of narratives and pictorial representations whose marked inspiration—either theological or sadomasochistic—has frequently been emphasized. This catalogue generously brings us closer to this artistic dimension and demonstrates that the
The way to access it exceeds any previous label or definition.

Likewise, el Círculo de Bellas Artes published in a bilingual edition Lettres à Betty / Letters to BettyBetween 1929 and 1945, Pierre Klossowski maintained an intense correspondence with Elizabeth Holland-Leyris. These letters were carefully preserved by their recipient and were discovered almost by accident some years after her death. They are published for the first time in this volume.

Initially affectionate and later friendly, these letters, sometimes accompanied or illustrated with drawings, are a striking prelude to Klossowski's later work. In them, he reveals his first attempts at writing, his reflections, his religious anxieties, and certain fantasies and projects that he would not pursue until ten or twenty years later. He also portrays his friends from that time, their debates, and their quarrels, especially with Pierre Leyris, Georges Bataille, Denis de Rougemont, and Michel Leiris.

These two volumes that we now present allow us to access firsthand a work that Serge Fauchereau, very aptly, has placed among those that, resistant to the isms of the 20th century, play in their time "a necessary function: that of an avant-garde that, without scandal, refuses to continue in the avant-garde.
