This is the second title to be released as a result of the co-publishing agreement between el Círculo de Bellas Artes y Rag tongue.

“And then, on Tuesday, August 29, Manuel went down to the shop early because he had to return the bread he hadn't sold the day before. Encarna didn't go with him because she had to take care of the dog. She had a bad feeling, she tells us, an experience recounted by many relatives of terrorist attack victims. At some point between 8:30 and 10:30 in the morning, one or two people entered the shop and fired fourteen bullets at Manuel, who couldn't escape.” The People's Party won two council seats in the Zumarraga town elections, in which Manuel Indiano was number six on the list. The 1999 elections were unusual in the Basque Country because ETA had declared a ceasefire. But the truce broke down at the end of that year: there were several resignations and resignations within the People's Party, and Manuel, who had recently moved to the Basque Country to live out his love story with his cousin Encarna, ended up becoming a city councilor. A few months later, he would be assassinated by ETA.

This book revisits the case of Manuel Indiano, one of the least recognized victims—perhaps due to the atypical nature of his political history. It does so by challenging the clichés used by the media at the time: a candy shop owner from a working-class neighborhood in Madrid who entered politics without a defined ideology, the product of his unconventional love affair. When it was impossible, this story intertwines with that of the author herself: a left-wing activist who spends her days analyzing films and debating in bars in downtown Madrid about a political era, the late 90s, when a progressive shift in the country seemed impossible. And yet, in the tragic way Manuel's personal life becomes a historical accident, she finds a disconcerting reflection, a truth.
