Mecánica del vuelo. En torno al poeta Aníbal Núñez
In March 1987, the poet Aníbal Núñez died, interrupting, along with his life, a body of work that was at its peak. At that time, only a small part of his work had been published; during the following years, a continuous editorial recovery revealed the depth of his work; the publication, in 1995, of the two volumes of his Poetic work (Madrid, Hiperión) came to culminate that stage. Before and after, in parallel, a sustained critical task was capturing the resonance of Aníbal Núñez's poetry, accounting for its height and intensity.
El Círculo de Bellas Artes He wished to contribute to this endeavor by organizing a series of events about the poet on the twentieth anniversary of his death, which are documented in these pages. These pages seek to approach, with a conscious plurality of voices and methodological approaches, a poetry that has not lost its defiant, challenging, and life-giving character—the poetry of someone who occupies a unique place among his contemporaries. This is living poetry, active and dynamic, far removed from a mere monument, independent of the abrupt end of his life, its reading still open and evolving. The very vibrancy of the texts gathered here confirms this.
It includes essays on Miguel Casado, José-Miguel Ullán, Olvido García Valdés, Carlos Piera, Antonio Méndez Rubio, Mariano Peyrou, Tomás Salvador González, Susana Díaz, Tomás Sánchez Santiago, Menchu Gutiérrez, Ángel Luis Prieto de Paula, Jenaro Talens, Fernando R. de la Flor, Francisco Castaño and Ildefonso Rodríguez.
» In the volume Mechanics of Flight: On the Poet Aníbal Núñez Casado (…) has (…) poets close to both the figure and the work of Aníbal Núñez; poets who, for their part, propose from their respective poetics a synthesis of reflection and vision similar in its singularity to that of Núñez, whose work prevents a uniform vision, opens continuous points of escape, almost as if once concluded it continued to transform itself with each reading.”
