Poesía

According to John Berger, the word "poet" is more of an adjective than a noun, so one could hardly present oneself as such: it is up to the reader to decide whether a person is a poet. This modest approach to the craft probably explains why, to date, readers have only been able to enjoy Berger's poetry in partial anthologies or in a few almost furtive appearances within the pages of his fiction or essay collections.

This bilingual edition amply confirms the strength of John Berger's poetic output. It is practically a complete work, encompassing poems written between 1955 and 2008. It is accompanied by a CD featuring the author's voice reciting twenty-one of the more than seventy poems included in this compilation, recorded in 2010 during one of his visits to [the relevant institution/location]. A radically engaged author, he has given voice to various causes—among them, the denunciation of the accelerated destruction of the rural world—while simultaneously constructing one of the most personal and interesting bodies of work in the contemporary literary and intellectual landscape. In 2006, Berger received the Medalla de Oro del Círculo de Bellas Artes.
