Vida de ricos

How do we live, and how could we live? William Morris's question takes on an unprecedented urgency today. Emilio Santiago Muíño addresses this crossroads from a radical perspective: he rejects both destructive consumerism and resigned austerity; instead, he proposes a third way.

Inspired by the Paris Commune, the author redefines the idea of luxury to argue how, in the midst of a climate crisis, we can lead a desirable, even enviable, life; a life based on collective enjoyment: playing together, partying and its intoxication, humor and dancing, free time and laziness, caring; a life of the rich, in short, but with a low ecological impact.

Applying Gramsci's lessons to environmentalism, the book moves from "degrowth" to "post-growth" and offers concrete political tools to realize this vision and confront the insidious ecofascism of Donald Trump. It concludes with some of the most compelling pages of recent essay writing: a tangible and hopeful program for achieving genuinely shared abundance.
