Ramón Barce
Professor of literature and translator into Spanish of fundamental treatises such as the one dedicated to harmony signed by Schönberg, the renowned thinker and musician Ramón Barce (Madrid, 1928 – 2008) belonged to the so-called 51 GenerationHis musical contributions and formidable organizational skills led him to both promote and be part of groups such as New Music, Music Room of the AteneoThe group ZAJ and Spanish Association of Symphonic Composers.
Throughout his life, he published numerous musical translations and original compositions, and also composed more than 120 works. Among the awards he received, the Community of Madrid's Prize for Musical Creation in 1991 and the Medalla de Oro Awarded the Prize for Merit in Fine Arts in 1997. He was an academician of the Royal Academy of San Fernando since 2001.
Ramón Barce died on December 15, 2008 in Madrid.
