On the battlefields | Boniface
The catalogue " On the Battlefields" presents Bonifacio 's retrospective exhibition : canvases, drawings, series of engravings, and lithographs created between 1968 and 2005. Bonifacio (San Sebastián, 1933) is one of the most important and original Spanish painters of the last half-century. During the 1960s, he cultivated an informalist abstraction. At the end of that decade, he moved to Cuenca, where he came into contact with the artists of El Paso —such as Saura, Millares, and Guerrero—began to learn engraving techniques, and developed a highly original figurative style, characterized by biomorphic forms and a very personal use of color.
