Philosophy and Surrealism
Within the framework of the exhibition Max Ernst: Surrealism, Art and FilmThis lecture series has explored the influence of surrealist thought on philosophy, art, and film from the interwar period to the present day. Through various presentations, specialists in Aesthetics and Art Theory have addressed key aspects of the movement, such as its iconoclastic nature, the transformation of language, the transgression of moral and political norms, and the relationship between art and life.
The program included the following lectures:
- "Breaking the familiar. Surrealism and estrangement", given by Luis Puelles, has analyzed the surrealist strategies of estrangement and their ability to destabilize the traditional representation of art.
- "Surrealism and cinema: True hallucination in Buñuel and David Lynch", By Antonio Rivera García, has explored the link between surrealism and cinema, highlighting how both filmmakers have used the image to access the irrational and unconscious.
- "Dorothea Tanning: To pass through things, to dance in the abyss", Presented by Marifé Santiago, has delved into the artist's work and her ability to transcend the boundaries between reason and dream.
