Ship of Mirrors

Mario Cesariny (Lisbon, 1923) is widely known as one of the most significant poetic voices of Portuguese surrealism. However, for a long time his visual art has not received the same recognition. Ship of Mirrors This exhibition aims to contribute to the rediscovery of the profound unity underlying the various facets of Cesariny's work through a broad selection of drawings, paintings, collages, objects, and assemblages created between the second half of the 1940s and the present day. The volume is complemented by a poetry anthology and a selection of the artist's short texts, as well as several essays and articles on Cesariny written by renowned experts on his work, such as João Pinharanda and Perfecto E. Cuadrado, and a comprehensive bio-bibliography.
