Presentation of 'Leonera', by Fernando León de Aranoa

Fernando León de Aranoa, film director, writer and member of the Board of Directors ofel Círculo de Bellas Artes, presents his latest novel, 'Leonera' (Seix Barral), in the company of Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute, poet and essayist.

This book is born of bewilderment and urgency, of a disconnect from reality, and of the need to understand it. It is the book that would be written by someone who doesn't fit in at the party, who doesn't know who to talk to, who still wonders why they were invited. It is the book written by someone who came dressed as an astronaut while everyone else dressed in medieval jousting attire. It is a book of wonder and discontent, which, despite everything, seeks reasons; to explain, and to explain to itself, the secret logic of things.

'Leonera' is a collection of short pieces by a keen observer of reality and the contradictions inherent in the human soul. Stories that are like thunderbolts, one-round fights, one-night stands; stories that don't seek points or extra time, that don't postpone or speculate. They aim to provoke, to stimulate the reader's thought and emotion, and to celebrate fiction, its revelatory power.
