Territories across the five continents, once considered marginal to modern artistic production, have recently aligned themselves with dominant centers, where they are valued as emerging cultural hubs. Globalized modernity has generated a new map in which identity is a notion to be redefined, and there is a call for art that no longer roots itself in a specific territory, but rather extends its reach into the air, like a tree that has uprooted itself.

What has changed in the system of cultural affiliation in art? The lectures convened now as a continuation of the 2010 Contemporary Art Appreciation Course will address various critical conditions and particularities of this phenomenon . Participants include Eva Fernández del Campo , Javier Arnaldo Alcubilla , Jean Hubert Martin , Ana Agud , Joan Fontcuberta , Ángel González García, and Partha Mitter.
