Minhwa is a type of traditional Korean painting, typically featuring depictions of mythological figures and animals. Literally, the word “minhwa” refers to “people’s painting” or “folk painting.”

This type of painting depicts everyday life and makes no religious distinction. The most common subjects are cranes, stones, water, clouds, the sun, and the moon.
