Alberto Ruiz de Samaniego (A Coruña, 1966) holds a PhD in Philosophy (Autonomous University of Madrid), a Master's degree in Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts (Institute of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts, Autonomous University of Madrid), and is a tenured professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts (University of Vigo). A curator and cultural critic, he was Director of the Luis Seoane Foundation in A Coruña (2008-2011) and co-directs the collection Larva (Maia-Abada Publishing House) and was curator of the Spanish Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Art Biennale.

He has published, among others, the following books: Maurice Blanchot: an aesthetic of the neutral (University of Vigo, 1999), Semillas of time (Pontevedra, 1999), The postmodern inflection: the margins of modernity (Akal, 2004), James Casebere (Mimesis, 2005), Otherworldly beauty. Notes on some poetics of immobility (Cendeac, 2005), Being y is not being. Figures in the spectral domain (Micromegas, 2013), The beautiful hours. Writings on cinema (Abada editors, 2015) and Black theater by Jorge Molder (Solar System, 2015).

She has curated exhibitions of Antón Lamazares, Xesús Vázquez, Chema de Luelmo, and Manuel Vilariño, as well as several group exhibitions of contemporary art. She has directed numerous courses and seminars and written for anthologies and catalogues of artists such as Antón Lamazares, Manuel Vilariño, Jorge Molder, Alberto Carneiro, Antonio Murado, Anne Heyvaert, Ana Soler, José Manuel Ciria, and Antón Patiño, among others. She has contributed to the following magazines and publications: Art and part, Western Magazine, Pencil, Sibyl, Archipelago, anthropos, Gorgeous, Dart, Worth, Alpha Paper,  The Grouse, The Creation, Diary 16, The Galician Post, Ars Mediterranea, Exit, Border D.

 He is a translator of Maurice Blanchot, Jean Christophe Bailly and the Dictionary of Aesthetics from the Akal publishing house.
