Jordi Savall is one of the most versatile musical figures of his generation. For over fifty years, he has been bringing to light musical wonders long forgotten and forgotten. Dedicated to researching these early musics, he reads and performs them on his viola da gamba, or as a conductor. His activities as a concert performer, teacher, researcher, and creator of new musical and cultural projects place him among the leading figures in the revival of early music. He is the founder, along with Montserrat Figueras, of the musical groups Hespèrion XXI (1974), La Capella Reial de Catalunya (1987), and Le Concert des Nations (1989), with which he explores and creates a universe of emotion and beauty that resonates with millions of music lovers worldwide.

With a pivotal role in Alain Corneau's film Tous les matins du monde (winner of the César Award for Best Original Score), an intense concert schedule (140 concerts a year) and a prolific recording career (6 recordings annually), and the creation of his own label, ALIA VOX, with Montserrat Figueras in 1998, Jordi Savall demonstrates that early music doesn't have to be elitist and that it appeals to an increasingly diverse and numerous audience of all ages. His immense work in producing concerts and recordings is, in the words of critic Allan Kozinn in The New York Times (2005), a matter "not only of musical recovery, but rather of creative revival."

Throughout his career, he has recorded and released over 230 albums of medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical music, with a special focus on Hispanic and Mediterranean musical heritage. This body of work has earned him numerous accolades, including the Midem, International Classical Music, and Grammy Awards. His concert programs have transformed music into a tool for fostering understanding and peace among diverse and sometimes conflicting peoples and cultures. It is no coincidence that in 2008 he was appointed "European Union Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue," and he and Montserrat Figueras were designated "Artists for Peace" within UNESCO's "Goodwill Ambassadors" program.

Of particular note is his participation in the discovery and performance of Una cosa rara and Il burbero di buon cuore by Vicent Martín i Soler. He has also conducted Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya in performances of L'Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi, Farnace and Il Teuzzone by Antonio Vivaldi, and Orfeo ed Euridice by Johann Joseph Fux.

His prolific musical career has received the highest national and international distinctions; among them, the title of doctor Honorary by the universities of Évora (Portugal), Barcelona (Catalonia), Leuven (Belgium) and Basel (Switzerland), the insignia of Knight of the Legion of Honor of the French Republic, the International Music Prize for Peace from the Ministry of Culture and Science of Lower Saxony, the Medalla de Oro from the Generalitat of Catalonia and the prestigious Leoni Sonning Prize, considered the Nobel Prize of music.Jordi Savall highlights an infinitely diverse shared cultural heritage.
