Oscar Gershensohn (Buenos Aires, 1955) holds a degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of La Plata. In 1984 he moved to Israel, where he completed a Master's degree in Choral and Orchestral Conducting at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy, furthering his studies at the Jerusalem Music Centre. In 1986 he assumed the direction of the Jerusalem Oratory Choir, with which he has performed extensively in Israel and on various tours to Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

In 1988 he was appointed assistant director of the Israel National Choir and collaborated with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1990 he has resided in Spain, where he founded the Capilla Real de Madrid, an ensemble with which he has developed a renowned body of work in the world of oratorio, Baroque opera, Renaissance, and early Baroque music.

As a guest conductor, he has collaborated with the following organizations: Israel Broadcasting Orchestra, International Cultural Centre for Youth Orchestra, Rubin Academy Orchestra, Contemporary Music Group Jerusalem, The Israel Sinfonietta, Haifa Symphonic Orchestra, Acco Festival Orchestra, Cameran Singers Tel Aviv, Ensemble Baroque de Limoges, Mendoza Symphony Orchestra, Asturias Symphony Orchestra, Reina Sofía Chamber Orchestra, Choir and Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, and Choir and Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias.

Since 1999 he has been the director of the Vía Magna Choir. He is also the co-artistic director and programmer of the Bach Cantatas series for the Madrid City Council, and the artistic director of the Children's Choir of the Community of Madrid.
