Shoulder to shoulder. Carte blanche to Gabriel Azorín
Shoulder to Man brings together a selection of films chosen by filmmaker Gabriel Azorín, all sharing a common intuition: there are moments when men cease to play the expected roles. In these moments of waiting, defeat, drift, or intimacy, the body appears stripped of its certainties and finds solace in the closeness of another man. Far from heroism or competition, these films observe bonds marked by fragility, care, doubt, and an emotional openness rarely depicted in cinema or public life. These are bodies that accompany other bodies when fear, loss, or bewilderment renders any gesture of strength insufficient.
The cycle proposes to look at those spaces of shared vulnerability, where masculinity ceases to be an armor to become, simply, a way of being together.
This carte blanche accompanies the theatrical release of 'Last Night I Conquered Thebes', Gabriel Azorín's debut film, and brings together five films that have engaged in different ways with his creative process.
