The Madrid Women in Film Festival was founded in 2018 to showcase the work of women filmmakers, highlight their perspectives on filmmaking, and celebrate female role models in the industry. It is promoted by women, men, organizations, and companies who want to emphasize the work of a significant segment of the population that doesn't always reach audiences on equal terms. Aimed at a general audience, the festival demonstrates that female directors can make all kinds of films, from comedies and thrillers to war films, horror, science fiction, and adventure.
