La Movida Madrileña was a youth countercultural movement that emerged during the early years of Spain's transition to democracy after the Franco regime, reaching its peak public visibility during the 1980s. The Movida Madrileña series aims not only to revisit films by directors who participated in the movement to varying degrees, but also to explore films from other cinemas that may have aesthetically influenced its development.
