About the film
Fresh from the end of the American Civil War (1861-1865), two men decide to drive cattle from Texas to Montana, a difficult task that involves facing outlaws, Native Americans, and the harsh realities of nature. Ben Allison (Gable) and his brother Clint (Cameron Mitchell) intend to make a fortune by stealing cattle; to do so, they partner with Nathan Stark (Ryan), a prominent rancher who has to drive a large herd. During the journey, a fierce rivalry develops between them over the affections of a woman (Jane Russell).
