William Shakespeare Revealed

From the Renaissance to contemporary popular culture

This course offers a journey through the context and work of one of the most influential playwrights in the Western tradition, William Shakespeare. Over four days, specialists from various universities will explore the author, his output, and his influence from multiple perspectives—historical, linguistic, cultural, and religious—as well as the transmission, reinterpretation, and staging of his texts from the 17th century to contemporary stages. Topics such as the connections between Elizabethan England and the Golden Age, Shakespeare's impact on 21st-century activism, and the playwright's influence on diverse cultural and spiritual traditions will be part of a program that will immerse us in the study of Shakespeare from a multidisciplinary perspective.
