A satirical poem written by Lope de Vega in 1643. Akin to a fable, * La Gatomaquia* features anthropomorphized felines whose actions revolve around love, gallantry, and flirtation. Self-parody and humor are prevalent in this work by the great Golden Age playwright, where anything is possible. On a magical night when only modesty and contemplation slumber, what begins as magic and dreams ultimately transforms into witchcraft and nightmare.

SYNOPSIS
Micifuf is a poor cat who is in love with the beautiful Zapaquilda. Marramaquiz, a wealthy man who has returned from the Indies and is Micifuf's enemy, tries to seduce his beloved with the help of the magician Garfiñanto to make her jealous. But when this tactic fails, he decides to kidnap Zapaquilda during her wedding celebration with Micifuf. An epic cat war then ensues, with an unexpected ending.
