The Barbarous Nights | XII Street Musicians Festival
El 24 June of 2016, starting from the 21:00h, el Círculo de Bellas Artes It will host the twelfth barbarian invasion of street musicians, a veteran event in Madrid's cultural life that, under the heading of The Barbarous NightsIt began its journey in 2005 to celebrate the summer solstice and International Music Day.
With no light other than what reaches them from the sky, streetlights, or shop windows, and with no stage other than the one they improvise on the sidewalks, this motley orchestra of street musicians, heterogeneous in format and diverse in style, seeks something more than our coins: it demands our attention. Heeding that call, el Círculo de Bellas Artes Each year, this entire urban troupe is invited to occupy the various stages set up for them in the usual spaces of this century-old Casa Europa of Culture: the terrace, the lobby, the Ballroom or the Hall of Columns.
Since 2014, the Noches Bárbaras festival has also taken place on the other side of the ocean. The Spanish Cultural Center in Montevideo , in direct coordination with the CBA (Centro Cultural de Buenos Aires), and following the same objectives, criteria, and programming guidelines as the original Noches Bárbaras in Madrid, will hold the third edition of the Montevideo Noches Bárbaras this year.
As usual, the program of performances will be prepared by Carmen Vela, the event's curator. The NN.BB. logo and branding are the work of designer Jacobo Pérez-Enciso. Elena Iglesias is responsible for the design of the promotional materials. Photographers from the PHotoEspaña Master's program, "Theories and Artistic Practices," will be on-site documenting the festival.
