Sulfur
Four characters, behind closed doors, question the existence of hell and its characteristics. Asufre thus recreates a unique vision of the abyss as an organized society, based on the principles of literary cabaret. Fragments of Dante's Divine Comedy , Sartre's No Exit , Strindberg's Inferno , Kafka's The Trial , and Marlowe and Goethe's Faust are revisited, while contemporary themes are explored and brought to life with a significant comedic element.
The company Dei Furbi tackles the far from simple task of answering a controversial question: What is hell? Gemma Beltrán reveals the idea behind this project: “ Asufre is a mixture of infernal sulfur and the festive cry: ‘Sugar!’ Suffering and celebration are the essence of the show.” In 2011, Asufre won First Prize at the 14th National Competition for Stage Directors in Spain.
