A colorful troupe roams the streets and squares, reciting ballads with the help of puppets and an impromptu traveling puppet show: a Muslim minstrel and expert ballad singer; a soldier recently returned from the Crusades, a fallen noble knight; and an introverted, gruff shepherd who has lost his flock and plays the bagpipes to earn a living. The ballads and ancient pieces transport the audience back in time. Love, nobility, great deeds, fantastical monsters, and plenty of humor.
