Not only do the blows hurt

Pamela Palenciano, a Spanish monologist, communicator, and feminist activist, will perform her monologue. Not only do the blows hurt, in solidarity with the Human Rights Commission of El Salvador (CDHES).

From its inception, one of the fundamental tasks of the CDHES has been the fight against impunity. To this end, they believe it is necessary to preserve the historical memory of the repression and violence suffered by the Salvadoran people during the civil war that plagued the country in the 1980s and 1990s; not as revenge, but as the best means to achieve justice for the underprivileged.

The Salvadoran Human Rights Commission (CDHES) is currently working to preserve and reconstruct historical memory and promote the dissemination of the truth about human rights violations committed against the Salvadoran people over the past 35 years. This is achieved through the collection of documentary and audiovisual material and the undertaking of research. This material is made available to Salvadoran society for consultation, research, preservation, memory recovery, and the dissemination of truth at the Center for Documentation of Historical Memory of El Salvador. A key component of this project is the database of victims of the conflict, which is intended to be updated with previously undocumented events.

The Oscar Romero Committee (COR), for its part, is made up of a group from Torrejón de Ardoz that has met regularly for over 30 years to discover, through solidarity with Latin America, the transformative power of society. Throughout their journey, COR members have met many people with diverse endeavors who have shown them that solidarity is a two-way street. One of these people has been Miguel Montenegro, president of the Human Rights Commission of El Salvador (CDHES). From their friendship, his personal history, and his work, the project they are presenting today was born. el Círculo de Bellas Artes.
