Stellar Moments: Photography in the 20th Century
If the 19th century saw the birth of photography, a medium that has played a fundamental role in shaping our visual imagination and collective memory, the 20th century witnessed its consecration as one of the fine arts. Today, photography is one of the most important means of artistic expression. Philosophers, historians, and essayists have reflected on its complexity, the wealth of options it offers, its historical role as a guardian of memory, and the importance of the image in the contemporary world.
The exhibition aims to highlight the rich thematic, conceptual, and experimental scope of this creative medium. It does so through the most important names in 20th-century photography, as well as through significant documentation related to published photographs: catalogs, magazines, books, and more.
Stellar Moments is a unique exhibition, both in its characteristics and its dimensions. In any case, it is not a history of photography but a journey through moments and authors who have contributed and continue to contribute to its development and full recognition as a creative language.
