The exhibition presented in el Círculo of Fine Arts in co-production with Centre d'Art Tecla SalaThis is the first retrospective of one of the key figures in Spanish photography, winner of the National Photography Prize in 2021. Neus MiróThe exhibition covers her career from the late 60s to 2007 and is accompanied by archival material that allows for a deeper understanding of her work and its context. Pilar Aymerich (Barcelona, ​​1943) began her professional career in photography in the late 60s, during the final years of the Franco regime and the Spanish Transition to democracy. Her camera witnessed demonstrations, strikes, celebrations, and social movements, always from a social, humanist, and feminist perspective. From the beginning, her photographs have been characterized by a powerful narrative quality. Her work represents a deconstruction of the strategy of modern photojournalism or photo-reportage. The images arise from an understanding of a given situation, from the familiarity she has patiently built with her surroundings, and from the personal relationships she has cultivated.

Awarded the National Photography Prize in 2021, she has received other recognitions such as the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Generalitat of Catalonia in 2005 and in 2017 the Amical Medal of Ravensbrück International , in recognition of her reports on survivors in Nazi concentration camps and especially on women.
