Colloquium with the Chilean graphic artist, designer and artist Víctor Jaque about street art, coinciding with his exhibition Jaquearte: the meaning is in the street.

Víctor Jaque develops a body of work based on the reuse of objects produced in capitalist society or ideas circulated by dominant ideologies. This processed raw material is diverted from its original purpose, subjected to contradictions, and distorted in its meaning, producing a critical discourse on the reality of our time. The unsettling effect of his artistic creations and their parodic capacity encourage a rebellion against a submissive daily routine in which the alienations of consumer society and the exploitation of human potential are accepted.

Jaquearte: el sentido está en la calle (Checkmate: Meaning is in the Street) proposes choosing a specific location in different parts of Madrid, where the artworks intervene according to the characteristics of the neighborhood, the building, or the street, to redefine the major social problems that beset us: evictions, corruption, austerity measures, debt. At the same time, it will generate connections between digital media that serve as a multifaceted critical convergence.
