April 14-15, 26

Organized by Círculo de Bellas Artes

Collaborating with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the madri+d Foundation for Knowledge, the José Ramón Otero Teaching Cooperative, FUHEM and the Cajal Neuroscience Centre (CSIC)

Opening April 14th at 10:30 AM

Opening hours: 10:30 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00

Entry to the space is free and open to the public.

ConCienciArte arrives at Círculo, a fair that transforms the Ballroom into a space for experimentation where art, science and creativity come together.

ConCienciArte is back

El Círculo de Bellas Artes For another year, ConCienciArte, a fair that merges art and science in a space of creativity and learning, is being hosted. For months, students from various schools have developed innovative projects that showcase the artistic side of science and the scientific component of art, resulting in an interactive and enriching experience for all audiences.

For two days, the Ballroom will be transformed into a science fair where students from different schools will present projects that explore the relationship between art, technology and knowledge: from kinetic art, robotics applied to museums or the use of ferrofluids, to proposals on neuroscience, ceramics, ecology or perceptual illusions.

The program is complemented by astrological installations such as the live planetarium show and by performances that combine education and performing arts, such as the theatrical journey to the cosmos. Eclipse. A cosmic hideaway or the circus and physics spectacle TurnipIn addition, the public will be able to enjoy short scientific demonstrations in our Science Corner, participatory workshops such as Magic in balance: playing with tensegrity o Embroidering thoughts, inspired by the neural illustrations of Santiago Ramón y Cajal, and the activity Science on the Rooftop, dedicated to the construction of a mini weather station.

Science and art to imagine

ConCienciArte reaffirms its commitment to dissemination and education, bringing these disciplines closer to an ever-wider audience.

It's an essential event for those who enjoy exploring new ways of thinking and learning, a space where students, researchers, artists, and the public come together to share ideas and experiences. A place where learning becomes a collective adventure and where creativity opens new doors to knowledge.

Workshop Embroidering thoughtsLed by Cristina Galán and the Cajal Neuroscience Centre (CSIC)

This workshop proposes an encounter between science and art inspired by the scientific drawings of Santiago Ramón y Cajal, a pioneer of modern neuroscience and winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1906. At the end of the 19th century, Cajal used the Golgi staining technique to observe individual neurons under a microscope and draw them with extraordinary precision. His illustrations revealed for the first time that the nervous system is made up of individual cells connected to one another: neurons.

More than a century later, these drawings remain not only scientific documents but also pieces of great aesthetic beauty. In this workshop, we propose reinterpreting them through embroidery, transforming microscopic observation into a manual and collective gesture. Each stitch will represent a small part of a neuron or a neural circuit, collectively constructing an image of the brain.

Show Eclipse. A cosmic hideaway. By PAI

A playful journey into the secrets of the cosmos. This innovative educational experience blends theater with the majesty of the cosmos to offer an unforgettable voyage. It invites you to experience space, feeling the scale of the universe. Discover how the sun and moon orchestrate a cosmic hideaway that culminates in the spectacular phenomenon of the next eclipse. The performance also reveals related mysteries, such as occultations, conjunctions, transits, and planetary alignments, as well as eclipsing stars and other astronomical phenomena, all presented with clarity, didactic approach, and emotional depth.

Free entry until complete seats.

Conference room: Fernando de Rojas Theater

11:00 to 13:00 and 16.30 a.m. to 18:30 p.m.

Workshop Magic in balance: playing with tensegrity. In charge of Midomo

Some structures can be held up almost as if by magic. Tensegrity is a system that keeps rigid pieces suspended in the air thanks to thin cables that maintain their balance without them directly touching. This workshop is a creative construction experience where imagination and physics come together to challenge what seems impossible.

Show Rube. By Alodeya

Circus and science. A Rube Goldberg machine, the kind that triggers amazing and fun domino effects, will be gradually assembled on stage during the show. Here's the premise. When you see objects flying, remember that the secret lies in physics.
Hypnotic juggling movements with magnetic tubes, balls, diabolo sticks, and light clubs programmed down to the millisecond create a spectacle based on the laws of physics, performed by two engineers with nearly twenty years of stage experience. Physics and circus merge with humor to bring RUBE to life.
