The exclusionary matrix that underpins citizenship must be addressed, especially from the perspective of political philosophy, with the seriousness it deserves. Following the presentation of The myth of citizenshipIn Irene Ortiz Gala's work, we propose a space for discussion to consider how citizenship operates in our societies: what legal mechanisms facilitate the inclusion and exclusion of individuals from this system - and under what criteria - but, above all, what its consequences are.

The session will focus on the discourses that have shaped a legal concept like citizenship. From an archaeological perspective, we will examine some of the philosophical narratives that have legitimized the inclusion of life within the State based on the principles of blood and soil.

Thus, we propose a meeting to exercise political imagination, led by the essay's author, Irene Ortiz Gala, and philosopher Iván de los Ríos, to evaluate whether citizenship can continue to be the guiding concept of political philosophy, or whether, rather, we must find new ways of thinking about the relationship between individuals and the State.
