Laboratory of opportunities

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Opportunities Lab, a unique project in Europe that promotes equal opportunities through big data research and the design of innovative public policies. This initiative stems from a collaboration between internationally renowned academic centers, such as Opportunity Insights at Harvard University and the World Inequality Lab at the Paris School of Economics, along with specialized think tanks like the Felipe González Foundation and Future Policy Lab.

This new independent research center seeks to identify the key factors that determine equal opportunities in Spain and Europe, generate useful knowledge to guide effective public policies, and share its findings in academia, institutional settings, and public debate. Its work combines evidence, analysis, and action to advance toward a fairer and more equitable society.

The day will begin with a presentation of the Opportunities Lab by its director, javier soriaA panel discussion will then be held on the lab's first academic study on equal opportunities, with the participation of javier soria, director of the Opportunities Lab and co-author of the study; Octavio Medina, researcher at the Google's Choice Lab and also co-author of the study; and Rocío Martínez-Sampere, director of the Felipe González FoundationThe conversation will be moderated by Eva Baroja, journalist El País, and the closing remarks will be delivered by the former Prime Minister, Felipe González.
